The Great Theatre - Ephesus Amphitheater
The Great Theatre was constructed in the third century BC during the reign of Lysimachos, and later enlarged by the Romans. The theatre has a seating capacity of 25,000 seats, and is believed to have been the second biggest in the ancient world after the Colosseum in Rome. The Great Theatre is located on the slope of Panayir Hill, opposite the Harbor Street, and easily seen when entering from the south entrance to Ephesus.
The Great Theatre is the site of the riot against Paul during his stay in Ephesus.
