Orchard at Lonely Dell Ranch
The National Park service maintains the orchard at Lonely Dell Ranch, that was originally planed in 1965 when they took over the area. When I visited the ranch, what I found was a beautiful ranch set under the trees, with soaring buttes on one side and sharp cliff face on the other. Next to the ranch was an orchard, still maintained, although it was too late in the year for there to be any fruit on them.
The Lee's Ferry and Lonely Dell Ranch Historic District includes the ranch homesteaded by Mormon pioneer John D. Lee at Lee's Ferry, Arizona, and now in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. It is notable for its association with Lee, the ferry and the ranch's extensive irrigation facilities.
