The Portara and Wildflowers
I visited the Portara the previous day, but for some reason I didn't notice the profusion of wildflowers. I think perhaps it was the weather conditions - sunny with a strong breeze - as well as being a new location for me. On this day, the skies were slightly overcast, which highlighted them even more, making the colors stand out.
The Portara stands on Palatia, which was once a hill but is now a separate little island connected to Naxos by a causeway. The Portara is the entrance to an unfinished temple that faces directly toward Delos, Apollo's birthplace.
